A builder of languages, compilers, and developer tools.

Rahul Muttineni is a software engineer and language designer, best known as the creator and lead developer of Eta — a pure, lazy, statically-typed dialect of Haskell that runs on the JVM. He co-founded TypeLead, Inc., where he served as CTO, to build a business around Eta, growing it from a Summer of Code project (originally named GHCVM) into a compiler that translates GHC's STG intermediate language to JVM bytecode with a strongly-typed FFI for safe Java interop. He has since worked on transaction-processing systems in the blockchain space, and speaks regularly on functional programming, concurrency, and language implementation.

Rahul is the creator and lead developer of Eta, a pure, lazy, statically-typed dialect of Haskell that runs on the JVM. He built it by forking GHC and compiling its STG intermediate language straight to JVM bytecode, with a strongly-typed FFI for safe Java interop.

He co-founded TypeLead, Inc., where he served as CTO, to commercialize Eta and make pure functional programming practical for the enterprise JVM. He has since worked on transaction-processing systems in the blockchain space.

He speaks regularly on functional programming, concurrency, and language implementation — at venues including Functional Conf, ICFP, and Øredev — and cares about the craft required to make software feel effortless.
